FAQs
What is a boutique vocal studio?
Essentially, a boutique vocal studio is a small studio that only has 2-3 instructors/staff members. The benefits to a boutique studio is a more hands on approach from the main teachers with a lower price tag than a bigger franchised studio. It also offers a more personal approach. Because we only take a handful of students at a time, we offer our full attention to students as well as our personal connections made within specifc schools, businesses & personnel in the music world.
Do I have to have singing experience to start lessons?
Absolutely not! We teach people of all skill levels. If you’re starting out at the very beginning we can help. Just know that depending on your unique vocal challenges some issues may take longer to make progress with than others.
Do I need to know my range or vocal classification before I start lessons?
No, you don’t need to know your range or vocal classification (i.e. soprano, mezzo soprano, tenor, baritone etc.) before your start lessons. In fact, you may never need to now your vocal classification depending on your goals. But if you do, it’s our job to take the guess work away and accurately place your vocal range & classification.
I’m not sure I can sing. Are voice lessons worth it if I can’t?
This question comes up A LOT. We cannot tell you one way or another if lessons will be worth it for you personally, however anyone, and I do mean anyone, can learn how to sing. Even if you have extreme pitch issues or have never sang before in your life. The issues you have will determine how long it will take to make significant progress, however if you’re a dedicated individual you can absolutely learn how to sing the way you’ve always wanted.
Do I have to practice outside of lessons?
The simple answer is yes. The more you practice outside of lessons the more progress you will make and the more consistent your voice will become. However this is specific to each student. Some students need to practice extensively every day while others only need exercises 3-4x a week to see progress. Usually, the more your practice the more you progress.
I’m not sure I can afford lessons. Do you offer scholarships?
We know lessons can be expensive. We believe in offering accessible lesson prices when possible as we know talent doesn’t discriminate! We offer a handful of semesterly scholarships for specifically dedicated students. If you’re interested in scholarship opportunities please email us for more information!
